CapMan invests in Metallfabriken Ljunghäll AB

Funds managed/advised by CapMan have acquired a majority share ownership in the Swedish company Metallfabriken Ljunghäll AB. The minority shareholders will be Ljunghäll’s present owners Hans Gunnarsson and Ingrid Asp and the top management of the company. The present owners will maintain a significant role in the company in the future both through their shareholdings and through Mr Hans Gunnarsson maintaining his position as CEO of Ljunghäll. Mr Åke Skeppner will be elected as new Chairman of the Board.

Metallfabriken Ljunghäll is the leading manufacturer of technically advanced aluminium die-cast products in the Nordic countries. Ljunghäll’s operations are located in Södra Vi in the Småland province of Sweden and the company has about 650 employees. The company’s main customers are Volvo AB, Volvo Cars Corporation, Scania and Ericsson and its turnover was EUR 93 million in 2002.

”We are very pleased to have CapMan as our new reliable business partner. As a result of CapMan’s investment, Ljunghäll will gain a partner with an international contact network, a strong financial position and thorough know-how of business development. Together, these assets form a solid platform for Ljunghäll’s future growth,” states Mr Hans Gunnarsson, CEO of Ljunghäll.

”Ljunghäll is in an exciting stage of development. The company has an experienced management team, strong technical competence and high quality awareness – on the basis of which we are confident about the company’s future development,” adds Mr Mats Gullbrandsson, Investment Manager at CapMan.

CapMan expanded the activities of its Buyout Business Unit to Stockholm at the beginning of last March. “The investment in Ljunghäll, which is our first Swedish buyout investment after the team’s Nordic expansion, is an important step towards establishing CapMan’s strong position as a buyout investor in Sweden,” states Mr Markus Sjöholm, Partner of CapMan.

The company’s new Chairman of the Board, Mr Åke Skeppner, has extensive industrial and international experience from e.g. Eldon and Thule.

An ordinary application about the investment has been given to Swedish Competition Authority Konkurrensverket.
