Operations expanded to Russia and to investments in listed companies
In 2008 CapMan took two major steps forward in its strategy of exploiting growth opportunities in alternative asset class by expanding operations to Russia and establishing Public Market Fund investing in Nordic listed companies.

Excellent result for CapMan Plc
In 2007 CapMan exited highly successfully from CapMan Real Estate I fund's portfolio. During the year a service platform (consisting of Investor Services, Group Finances and Accounting, IT and HR and Office Services teams) was established to enable the future expansion into new investment areas.

Active year of exits

Year 2006 was one of the most active years for exits, including the sale of Nordkalk Corporation. The holding period of Nordkalk was 3.8 years. As a result of active value creation work the investment returned the fund investors their original investment 4.6 times. CapMan made also several new investments, including investment in Finnish healthcare product distributor OneMed Group.

Expansion in alternative asset class
In summer 2005 CapMan established, based on investors' demand, its first private equity real estate fund. During the year the total capital under management grew by 76 per cent as a result of the new funds. In 2005 CapMan invested in nine portfolio companies and 18 properties.

Operations expanded to Norway
The Nordic growth strategy was finalised in January 2004 when CapMan opened an office in Norway. For the first time capital under management exceeded one billion euros. The first buyout investment in Norway was made into Cardinal Foods, a poultry and egg producer.
